We all have bad days. We all go through dark times in our lives.

But if your dark time goes on and on, and you can’t seem to get out of it, you may be depressed. Of course, you should see your doctor immediately in this case.

People who are depressed may be told to do certain things by friendly people who are just “trying to help,” like: Take a walk in the fresh air. Do gymnastics… Do yoga… Get involved in a hobby…

These things are all great, and usually they work when someone is just in a bad mood.

But people who are truly depressed don’t yet have the strength to do these things. But human beings must breathe. Even in the darkest depression we still inhale and exhale.

So you can take this small step by focusing on breathing deeply, in and out, and using this Finger Healing:

Place both hands on your thighs. Place the tip of your thumb on the base of your little finger. As you inhale, slowly wrap the other four fingers around the thumb, forming a loose fist. As you exhale, open your hands again and imagine all the worries, fears, and unhappiness leaving your body. Hold this symbol whenever you feel you need it, for as long as you need it. Then slowly stretch your arms and legs, and stretch out your entire body.


Use this symbol when you feel you don’t have the strength for anything else, when your whole world seems dark.

It may help brighten things up a bit and give you the strength to take more steps forward.

Everyone wants to know the true secret to happiness.

So many people are unhappy with their lives. They’re dying to know what the secret is to make things better.

Maybe you want to know, too. You’ve heard the phrase “Money can’t buy happiness.”

Yeah, well—it sure doesn’t hurt. And when there are so many people in the world who don’t have food, shelter, or clothing on their backs… So many people who are sick and dying… So many people in pain… It’s important to remember to count our blessings.

Even when our own lives seem so bad…remember, it could always be worse. Each person is born into a different environment and different circumstances.

The universe gives each person different challenges to overcome. By being thankful for everything you do have, you can instantly boost your mood.

Giving to people who are in need is another way to be happy. Giving feels good, and when you give from an open heart the universe may just return that gift to you.

Karma is a powerful force—don’t take it for granted.

So make an effort to give this week, even if it’s something small:

A dollar at the supermarket checkout counter to the March of Dimes…
A bag of old clothes that don’t fit. You can even give blood—it’s free, and it makes a big difference.

By giving you are putting good energy into the universe. Not only do you help others, but you are actually helping yourself.

Because chances are that good energy will boomerang right back to you.

Here’s a great Finger Healing for Compassion and Giving, to help you open your heart and get into the spirit of giving:

Sit comfortably with your back straight but not stiff.

Extend your arms out to the sides, parallel to the ground.

Turn your palms so they are facing front, as if you were about to give someone a big hug.

Stretch out your fingers and hold them still. Turn your head to the right side, and then back to the center. Repeat this four times. Turn your head to the left side, and then back to the center. Repeat this four times also.

Continue this back-and-forth for three minutes. Focus on sharing your energy, time, and gifts with those in need, all around you.

Your open hands symbolize this gesture of giving, as well as a gesture of welcoming all the gifts that the universe is giving you. Inhale long, deep, and slow as you move your head to the side.

Exhale long and deep as you bring your head back to the center. Practice for three minutes, then relax and sit still.

Feel yourself gathering energy and strength, and becoming more open and sensitive to the needs of others. You now have the power to meet those needs.

You’re not the only one with this issue.

Many people, men and women included, have relationship patterns.

Sit comfortably with your back straight but not stiff.

Lift your hands to the level below your chest.

Keep your palms together, with your fingers pointed away from you.

Tuck your thumbs under so that the tips of your thumbs rest on the fleshy mounds below the little fingers.

The bottoms of your hands should be touching firmly, with your elbows out to each side.

Hold this position for three minutes.

Breathe long, deep, and slow.

Use this symbol to overcome your old patterns.
